Today has been one of those days that all moms hate, but have to deal with from time to time. Brett came home from work early last night telling me that he was not feeling well. This morning he woke me up to tell me that I needed to take him to the clinic because he was fairly certain he had strep throat. Knowing that Robbie needed to be at his basketball game at 10:30, I quickly got myself and the kids ready and took him to see a doctor. Sure enough, he has strep, and we got out of there just in time for me to take Robbie to his basketball game.
After Robbie's team suffered their second loss of the season (that brings their record to 2-2) I got some lunch for everyone, ate my food quickly and headed to an open house hosted by a friend. When I left, Robbie was on the couch complaining that he didn't feel well, so I told him to rest and we would see how he was feeling later.
When I arrived back home, Robbie was still feeling miserable and had a fever, so I decided to take him to the clinic. For those of you that are not counting, this was trip number two for the day. We got to the clinic (Jake went with us because he wanted to see them swab Robbie's throat to test for strep) and I explained our situation to the receptionist. When the nurse took us to the back, she remembered us from this morning, and sugested that we all be tested. I thought this was a fabulous idea since one more trip there today may have pushed me over the edge of sanity, and let's face it, by this time, I was close anyway!
Robbie's test came back positive for strep, but Jake and I were not. The doctors were kind enough to give us each a prescription we can take if we do get sick. I think they could see how frazzled I was and felt bad for the poor lady who drug two chidren in twice in one day. While I was waiting for the prescriptions, the doctor who treated Brett this morning came in because she heard a family was in for the second time today with strep and she remembered us, and figured that's who it was.
I am praying that everyone will feel much better soon, and that Jake won't get it. He is terrible at taking medicine, and the penicilin is nasty!

Football
Last Sunday, a friend of mine gave me two tickets to the Broncos game, so Robbie and I headed up to Denver to watch some football. Being the die hard Steelers fan that I am, I was not terribly disappointed when the Broncos lost 31-10. We had a great time watching the game. Robbie enjoyed it when some fireworks went off every time (both times) the Broncos scored. I loved it during the last two minutes when three different fans ran onto the field and were tackled by security and drug off the field. It was a very memorable day. I just hope someday soon I can watch a football game in Pittsburgh!!!
Hank
My computer issues are finally resolved. My laptop is no longer working, but we have internet on the desktop computer in the basement, so I am able to be online more often. I have even gotten my computer and my camera in the same place so I can finally post a picture of Hank. We got Hank last January from the pound. He is now a seven year old basset hound. He is a slobbery mess, and stubborn as the day is long, but we love him. I think it has something to do with the sad eyes. It's just so hard to be angry when looks up at you with those eyes!!! Hank's favorite activities include barking at bunnies, napping and dumping the garbage can. He also likes to hide any baked good he can find in our blankets and laundry.

Getting Real
Let's be real, every time I post a blog, I talk about what a terrible blogger I am, and promise that I will do better in the future, but since it has been months again, I will spare you all my pretending that I may get my act together in the near future, and say that I will post again whenever I get around to it.
So what have we been up to since last I posted something? The kids are both in school all day now. Jake is in all day Kindergarten, and Robbie is in fourth grade. Jake loves school and thinks his teacher is beautiful. Too bad for him she is getting married to the gym teacher in December. Looks like he will have to move on the girls his own age. Robbie is dealing with homework as well as a fourth grade boy can be expected to. He is in karate and is really enjoying that.
We have had Hank (the basset hound) for nearly a year now, and I haven't even posted a picture of him yet. My laptop is not working right now, but I am hopeful it will be fixed this week sometime, so perhaps when that happens, I will be able to post photos again.

Worst Blogger ever!
I realize that I am now officially the worst blogger ever. In fact, I'm such a terrible blogger, that I'm not even sure if that is the correct way to spell blogger. Two g's one g, I have no idea. Anyway, let me try to catch you all (as though I have so many devoted readers) up on what has been happening in the Henning house since Christmas.
In January, Brett and I lost our minds, and got the kids a dog. We now have a basset hound named Hank. He is about 6 years old, and is a great dog. Both boys love him, and I'm fairly certain that he likes them at least half of the time.
Robbie finished third grade and Jake finished pre-school this year. They are both getting so big. I will post some pics of the kids and the dog in the next few days. Both boys are in Karate classes now. They are enjoying it and doing well.
We are now four weeks from the start of school. This will be a year of changes for our family. We have decided to change the school Robbie is going to attend. Jake will be starting kindergarten, and will be going to school all day. I plan to go back to school in the spring, but am going to take the fall semester to have some time for myself and try to clean the house occasionally.
Brett is still in the same job. Very little ever changes with him it seems. Overall, things are going well, and we are all healthy and happy.
